Description We are seeking a Briefing and Correspondence Senior Manager to work in the Parliamentary Briefing and Correspondence Team in Social Security Scotland. The Parliamentary, Briefing and Correspondence Team plays a key role in maintaining Social Security Scotland’s reputation and relationships with key stakeholders including Ministers and Parliamentarians and supports key organisational goals. You will work closely with the other B3's in the team to be Social Security Scotland’s lead on briefing and Parliamentary engagement, which includes the important work of the Parliamentary Correspondence team. You will play a leading role in safeguarding and enhancing Social Security Scotland’s reputation in Parliament and with Parliament. You will be autonomous but a team player and should have strong recent experience of successfully working directly with Ministers and/or Parliamentarians and their teams. Responsibilities Responsibilities • Lead on briefings, submissions and contributions for Social Security Scotland interests across the organisation and wider Scottish Government, demonstrating political acumen and excellent judgement under pressure to draft high quality drafts to tight deadlines for a range of purposes and audiences. • Co-ordinate Social Security Scotland’s weekly contribution to First Minister’s Questions, horizon scanning for likely topics of political interest and drafting appropriate messaging and lines, often to tight timescales. • Develop and review of key products for Social Security Scotland on topics of recurring or ongoing interest, ensuring they are regularly updated and fit for purpose. • Coordinate and support teams across the organisation to on key meetings or sessions with Ministers on a range of issues. • Lead for Social Security Scotland interests on Ministerial and Parliamentary engagement, including developing visits from Parliamentarians and Ministers to Social Security Scotland offices. • Lead on tracking appropriate Parliamentary evidence, insight and intelligence – on ongoing and emerging issues – for Social Security Scotland and ensuring this is appropriately recorded, reported and shared, working with the Directorate’s Parliamentary Unit as appropriate. • Line management responsibilities for members of the Parliamentary Team. Working Pattern Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options, depending on the needs of the role.
