Metro is seeking a Transport Planner to join our Transport team in supporting internal departments and working with the Intermodal Manager to manage transport booking requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Haulage allocation and day-to-day management as required
* Serve as the focal point with internal and external customers
* Complete all requirements or offer alternative options
* Ensure all haulage requirements are met by approved suppliers
* Adapt and consider alternative requirements as needed
* Balance cost and service requirements at all times
* Maintain and develop key flow requirements for key accounts and support the Multimodal Transport Manager
* Monitor supplier KPIs, complete reports, and assist management
* Develop relationships with suppliers and shipping line contacts
* Assist in transport system development and enhancements to support house systems
Experience:
* UK haulage operations, FCL/LCL, and warehousing operations
* Intermodal and multi-port operations
* Good geographic and container inventory knowledge
General Skills:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong planning and attention to detail
* Proactive team player with excellent time management and organizational skills
* Proficient in computer systems (Microsoft Windows) and Office applications
* Understanding of the importance of attention to detail and its commercial impact
