Job Summary
Salaried GP Fixed Term Maternity Cover starting August 2026 through to January 2027.
Five sessions per week (Thursday and Friday plus one additional session) and one evening on‑call session per week, predominantly face‑to‑face appointment sessions with some clinical triage via AccuRx Total Triage System and low GP home visit numbers.
Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
* Deliver comprehensive medical care, including consultation, diagnosis, treatment and follow‑up for a wide range of conditions.
* Oversee management of complex chronic diseases using patient‑centred, structured approaches and up‑to‑date clinical guidelines.
* Provide urgent care for acute medical conditions and decide on the need for emergency hospital admission.
* Implement disease‑prevention and health‑promotion strategies.
* Conduct home visits and triage as required.
Administrative Tasks
* Maintain accurate, detailed medical records for all patients, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to GDPR.
* Participate in quality improvement programmes (audits, patient surveys, service reviews).
* Engage in regular multidisciplinary team meetings for patient care, practice development and clinical governance.
Educational Activities
* Provide guidance, teaching and supervision to junior doctors, medical students and staff.
* Maintain and enhance medical skills through ongoing CPD and training.
Communication
* Use excellent communication skills to explain diagnoses, management plans and therapeutic procedures.
* Work closely with healthcare professionals within the practice and the wider medical community for seamless and integrated care.
Leadership And Management
* Contribute to practice management through insight into policy and protocol development.
* Assist in implementing new services to improve patient care and clinical efficiency.
Miscellaneous
* The role of a General Practitioner is wide and varied and will evolve; other tasks and duties may be assigned within normal expectations of the role.
Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
* Completion of a full course of training in general practice (CCT) or equivalent recognised by the GMC.

Experience
* Experience in a primary care NHS environment with a track record of effective patient care and teamwork.
