An established and growing corporate lender is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to join its UK corporate lending team. This is a senior, front-office role for a commercially driven originator with deep expertise in asset-based and cash flow lending, capable of leading complex UK and cross-border transactions.
You will play a pivotal role in building and managing corporate lending activity, driving origination, structuring and execution while delivering strong returns on capital and maintaining exceptional credit quality.
The Role
Origination & Relationship Management
* Originate new ABL and corporate lending opportunities across the UK and Europe
* Develop and manage senior-level relationships with management teams, debt advisors, private equity, corporate finance and professional services firms
* Lead client meetings, prepare compelling pitches, and represent the business at industry events and conferences
Deal Structuring & Execution
* Structure, negotiate and execute complex lending facilities, including refinancing, growth capital, acquisitions and MBOs
* Analyse business models and financial performance to ensure appropriate and robust debt structures
* Lead the end-to-end credit process: due diligence, financial modelling, credit papers, credit committee presentation, client negotiation and legal completion
Deal & Stakeholder Management
* Take ownership of transactions from origination through completion
* Work closely with internal teams including credit, underwriting, operations, portfolio management and finance to deliver successful outcomes
* Present well-structured, high-quality credit submissions with clear articulation of risks and mitigants
* Operate within defined risk and compliance frameworks, maintaining a proactive and disciplined approach to risk management

* Strong, hands-on knowledge of asset-based lending products and structures
* Established network across debt advisory, corporate finance, private equity, restructuring and accountancy firms
* Advanced financial analysis and modelling capability
* Commercially astute, highly credible and comfortable leading complex negotiations
