CMA Recruitment Group is supporting a well-established construction business based near Petersfield with the recruitment of a Project Accountant, on a permanent basis.
This role plays a critical part in overseeing the financial management of multiple construction projects, working closely with project managers and operational teams to ensure accurate cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll bring a hands on, detail driven approach, with the confidence to challenge, influence, and support stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes on time and on budget.

What will the Project Accountant role involve?
1. Supporting month-end contracting results, including reviewing revenue, costs, margins and cost to complete to ensure everything is accurate and properly challenged
2. Taking part in regular project reviews, keeping a close eye on contract performance, risks and emerging issues, and escalating concerns when needed
3. Working closely with commercial and operational teams to challenge assumptions and forecasts, offering practical financial insight to support day to day decisions
4. Presenting monthly results with clear, straightforward commentary, while also supporting budgeting and forecasting activity across the contracting business
5. Maintaining strong financial controls and discipline, ensuring alignment with group reporting requirements, QHSE responsibilities and regulatory compliance
Suitable Candidate for the Project Accountant vacancy:
6. Qualified or part qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with experience in construction, contracting or project-based environments
7. Background in an operational finance role, with a solid understanding of revenue recognition, cost to complete and cost control
8. Comfortable working closely with commercial and operational teams in a fast paced, deadline driven setting
9. Confident communicator who can challenge constructively and contribute to better decision making
10. Strong all-round skill set, including intermediate Excel, high attention to detail, and a genuine drive to improve and succeed
