Sphere is proud to be working with a well-established regional groundworks and civil engineering subcontractor, supporting their search for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to work across multiple projects in the Bristol, Swindon, and M4/M5 corridor area.

The Role:
As a Setting Out Engineer, you will be responsible for accurate site setting out and ensuring works are delivered to specification. You’ll play a key role in coordinating between the design team and site operations, contributing to the smooth and efficient delivery of civil and groundworks packages.
Key Responsibilities:

Setting out for foundations, drainage, roads, external works, and RC structures
*
Managing site surveys and interpreting technical drawings
*
Working with GPS, robotic total stations, and digital levelling equipment
*
Preparing as-built drawings and maintaining QA records
*
Liaising with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors
*
Supporting site teams in delivering work to specification and schedule
*
Ensuring adherence to site H&S procedures and quality standards
The Ideal Candidate:
*
HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
*
Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer in groundworks and civils
*
Proficient in setting out using GPS, robotic total stations, and AutoCAD
*
Strong understanding of civil engineering construction methods and specifications
*
Excellent communication and organisational skills
*
CSCS card – essential
*
SSSTS or SMSTS – desirable
