Allowances:
* £1,455 (5%) secure unit allowance - payable monthly at the start of employment
* £1,000 R&R allowance
* £3,014 enhanced pay for unsociable hours (based on a 23-hour fortnightly schedule) - payable monthly in arrears
* £1,833 sleep-in allowance (average of two per month) - payable monthly in arrears

The Role
This opportunity is with Brook Street Social Care, working at a secure children’s home in Aycliffe, Durham. You will provide high-quality accommodation and support for young people aged 10-18, many with complex needs requiring intensive support to help them turn their lives around.
Please note: You must be available to work rotating shifts, including weekdays and weekends, as specified.
Primary Responsibilities
* Act as a keyworker, serving as a role model with positive behaviour
* Engage and challenge young people appropriately
* Ensure safeguarding, consistency, and stability
* Provide advocacy and support with sensitivity
* Administer medication when required
* Maintain records and undertake risk assessments
* Write reports and care plans using IT skills
* Organise educational and physical activities
* Understand standards within Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
Candidate Requirements
Experience in care is desirable but not essential. You should have:
* A passion for care and compassion in practice
* Strong verbal communication skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Calmness and ability to manage challenging situations
* Rapport-building skills with young people
* A flexible, enthusiastic attitude
