Group Financial Controller
* Location: Durham
* Salary: £50-60k (depending on experience)
* Contract Type: Permanent
* Working Hours: Full-Time, 08:30 to 17:30 (1hr lunch)
My client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Group Financial Controller to join their dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the financial operations of the entire group, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial reporting standards, and driving financial strategy. You will work closely with senior management to manage and optimise the group’s financial performance and ensure robust internal controls are maintained.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Financial Reporting & Analysis:
o Oversee the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the group, including site visits as necessary.
o Ensure compliance with UK GAAP and other applicable financial reporting standards.
o Review and analyse the group's financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
o Manage the preparation of the group’s budget and forecasts, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy.
o Support the internal payroll function with accurate calculation and processing as required.
* Financial Controls:
o Establish and maintain robust internal financial controls and processes.
o Lead annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
o Implement and monitor financial KPIs and metrics.
* Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
o Manage group cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs and strategic investments.
o Develop strategies for optimising working capital and managing financial risks.
* Team Leadership & Development:
o Lead and mentor a finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
o Provide training and support to maintain high levels of competency and engagement.
* Strategic Financial Planning:
o Contribute to the development of the group’s long-term financial strategy.
* Compliance & Governance:
o Ensure compliance with tax regulations and corporate governance standards.
o Manage relationships with key stakeholders such as tax advisors and auditors.
* System & Process Improvement:
o Champion the use of financial software systems to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
o Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Education & Qualifications:
o ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
o Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is highly desirable.
* Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years in financial management or controlling role, with at least 3 years in a senior position.
o Experience in financial consolidation, budgeting, and forecasting.
o Experience in leading financial audits and managing external relationships.
