We have a current opportunity for a Energy Manager on a contract basis. The initial duration is circa 4 months, as the current Energy Manager is moving on. This role could potentially transition to a temp to perm position. Since this is a temporary role, not all duties listed may be required. Role Summary
The Energy Manager will report to the Head of Compliance and Sustainability and be part of the Compliance and Sustainability team. The primary responsibility is to shape the University's energy strategy and roadmap to net zero carbon, implementing these across the institution and community.
The role also involves:
* Providing high-quality information to support utility management and decarbonisation efforts.
* Maintaining ISO accreditation and reducing the carbon footprint while improving energy performance.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Utility Supply Management: Oversee data collection from meters, work with energy brokers on procurement, manage supplier relationships, and assist in budget preparation.
2. Energy and Water Monitoring/Reporting: Report on consumption, costs, variances, and ensure invoice validation. Prepare reports including HESA data.
3. Compliance: Maintain systems for statutory and regulatory reporting, renew certificates as needed.
4. Projects: Analyze data for performance improvements, collaborate on renewable technology projects, and assist with grant applications.
5. Engagement: Promote the University’s sustainability efforts internally and externally, engaging with staff, students, visitors, and external bodies.
Experience
* Experience in energy management within a large estate.
* Experience with Building Management Systems.
* Managing significant budgets and large data sets.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
* Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
* Ability to produce clear reports and manage databases.
* Proficiency in IT, especially spreadsheets.
* Willingness to travel to all sites, including Chesterfield, Buxton, and Leek.
