Overview
Due to our continued growth, we are looking for exceptional L2 Support Engineers with strong Linux skills to join our technical operations team in Bath. You will be working in a shift team responsible for the 24 x 7 monitoring, maintenance, support, and deployment of our unique virtualized store infrastructure software that is gaining traction with retailers worldwide. This is a shift-based role that follows a 24 x 7 shift pattern - "4 on 4 off".
Responsibilities
* Answer emails, calls and online chat in a positive and friendly manner.
* Create a record of each customer problem and spot trends when applicable.
* Deliver technical IT support to our diverse client base.
* Monitor live SDS software and infrastructure, troubleshoot issues and escalate to the Zynstra Operations Team as needed.
* Manage Windows and Linux server operating systems.
* Assist our partners and customers with deploying the SDS software.
* Patch and update operating systems and SDS software on SDS Appliances.
* Perform IT maintenance tasks scheduled by other team members.
* Promote and provide support for new products and technologies.
* Manage corporate IT desktops and laptops.
* Onboard new employees: laptop setup, account creation and new user orientation.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of our products, technologies, and competitors.
* Maintain high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in an IT operational support role working with Linux operating systems.
* Good understanding of core internet technologies – routing/switching, DNS, DHCP, firewalls.
* Experience in a customer-facing technical role with solid technical aptitude, excellent written and oral communications skills, and the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels.
* Strong analytical skills with proven problem-solving ability.
* Demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new technology.
* Desirable experience with these technologies: Nagios, CheckMK, Apache, CouchDB, Windows operating systems, resilient and redundant file systems (e.g., ZFS, DRBD, or equivalents), and scripting (Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, PowerShell).
