A small, inclusive secondary school based in Canley, Coventry is seeking a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated team, supporting students who face social, emotional and mental health challenges.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people, and who can offer calm, consistent support to students with complex behavioural needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with students aged 11-16, supporting those with SEMH needs on a 1:1 or small group basis
* Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a strong role model
* Support pupils in managing their behaviour, emotions, and engagement in lessons
* Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies
* Implement and adapt individual behaviour and support plans
* Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will
* Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges
* Remain calm under pressure and show empathy, patience, and resilience
* Be confident managing behaviour in a supportive and constructive way
* Be proactive, adaptable, and able to work well within a small, close-knit team
* Hold relevant experience or qualifications (e.g. Team Teach, MAPA, youth work, SEN support - desirable but not essential)
