Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual, to provide a high quality non-invasive cardiology diagnostic service to the patients of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The main role will include accurate ambulatory ECG and BP analysis and formulating a comprehensive report. Assisting in exercise stress testing, tilt table testing, ambulatory monitor fitting and covering the electrocardiography service.

To work as part of the Cardiology team to help provide the safest and most efficient service to our patients.

As part of this role, we would require you to have the Foundation in ECG Interpretation from SCST or Level 4 Healthcare Science Apprenticeship.

Main duties of the job

To record resting electrocardiograms without direct supervision on wards and in the Cardiac Investigations Unit and provide ECG interpretation. To fit a range of ambulatory recording equipment.

To analyse ambulatory ECG recordings from different technologies. To fit and download ambulatory BP recordings.

To prepare patients for exercise tolerance testing/Tilt table testing. To recognise when ECG patterns need to be communicated urgently to medical staff and to take appropriate action.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria

1. Currently holds or is working towards, level 4 Healthcare Apprenticeship or SCST Foundation in ECG interpretation. If not currently held then the expectation would be that the applicant would pass the qualification within 6 months of coming into post
2. Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or Maths & English (English Language or English Literature) GCSE A-C/4-9 or Maths & English O Level/GCE A-C or Maths & English CSE Grade 1 Or NARIC/ENIC which compares the qualification to UK GCSE (

4. Ability to perform a broad range of non-invasive cardiac investigations as highlighted in job description.
5. Able to interpret specialist cardiac investigations and compile an accurate report.
6. Ability to recognise life-threatening conditions and respond appropriately.

8. Ability to work autonomously, coordinate and prioritise workload.

9. Practical experience and familiarity with a wide range of cardiac investigations.
