Job Description
Location: Unit 2, Albion Road
We are seeking an Advanced Service Engineer to uphold the operational functionality and presentation of Wernick Power Solutions (WPS) equipment, including generators, diesel tanks, distribution systems, cabling, and associated ancillaries. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will conduct routine inspections, testing, servicing, attend breakdowns and repairs, and perform installation and commissioning tasks while maintaining our high standards of customer service, safety and quality. You will be required to be on call on a rota basis, receiving additional pay for being on call and being paid for any call outs.
Key Responsibilities
* Adhere to and promote SHEQ group standards.
* Achieve optimum, yet safe productivity levels with designated workload.
* Manage all transactional elements of the role, such as breakdowns, services, PDI’s, determining damage and timesheets.
* Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
* Provide Safety Observations for any unsafe practice in the depot or on a customer site.
* Ensure overdue servicing is kept below 6% of total fleet in your designated area.
* Maintain all training and competencies updated via the PDP skills matrix.
* Provide support outside normal job role as and when required for the Depot and Service Manager.
* Maintain the company vehicle in good condition and stocked with appropriate tools, oils, consumables and safety equipment.
* Seek time for self‑development (relevant to role) via training platforms, online learning hubs and structured training sessions.
* Provide support for colleagues as and when required and/or when you deem necessary.
* Ensure depot and engineering standards are met.
Essential Criteria
* Skills and experience in mechanical or electrical disciplines relevant to the scope of equipment involved in the role.
* Adequate skills for performing competent maintenance routines, whether in field service or depot‑based roles.
* In‑depth skills for competent fault diagnosis, dismantling, repair and testing of the defined equipment type, for repair roles.
* Experience working with generator engines is essential; applications without this experience will not be considered.
Additional Criteria
* Hold a C and G, NVQ or other recognised professional or vocational qualifications in the relevant technical discipline. (Desired)
* In‑depth experience in multiple technical disciplines, such as mechanical and electrical. (Essential)
* Hands‑on experience in service, maintenance, installation and repair of diesel‑driven generators. (Essential)
* Clean and tidy appearance and a full driving licence, as travel will be an essential part of the job.
