About the Role:
We are seeking a proven and results-driven Commercial Manager to lead our commercial strategy and newly formed commercial team, with a strong focus on sales growth, performance monitoring, customer experience, and operational excellence.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in scaling the business, driving revenue, and ensuring delivery of services meets the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, performance-led environment.
As Commercial Manager, you will spearhead our commercial strategy, focusing on sales growth, customer experience, and operational excellence. You will lead a talented commercial team, forge strategic partnerships, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services that align with Scarisbrick Hall’s vision. This is a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth and enhancing our reputation as a leading educational institution.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
·Develop and implement commercial strategies across Admissions, Alumni, Sales, Theatre & Studios, TCM, Transport and Marketing, Content and all commercial opportunities to support Scarisbrick Hall’s vision.
·Build strategic partnerships with external organisations, local businesses, and community groups to expand the school’s commercial presence and create beneficial opportunities.
·Collaborate with the operational leadership team to align commercial objectives with the school’s strategic goals, ensuring a cohesive approach to growth and development.
·Lead and motivate a commercial team, fostering a culture of accountability, creativity, and excellence in delivering outstanding customer experiences.
·Oversee financial performance of commercial activities, setting budgets, forecasting income, and ensuring cost-effective operations to support long-term sustainability for the organisation.
·Develop and execute strategic sales, growth and development plans to meet and exceed growth targets and improve profitability.
·Ensure scalable growth in B2B and B2C sales are achieved through identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across target sectors.
·Lead, motivate, and support the business development and sales officers to achieve individual and team KPIs.
·Build and manage key client relationships to maximise sales and revenue across the business enterprises such as Oak Theatre & Studios and TCM Premier Sports Coaching.
·Develop and execute and admissions plan to ensure high retention of existing families, new student acquisition.
·Provide advice and professional support to members of the Operational Leadership Team such as the Transport Manager and Catering & Events Manager to ensure commercial success.
Alumni Relationship Development:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with Scarisbrick Hall alumni to create a vibrant and engaged alumni community.
* Develop creative and innovative strategies to generate income streams from alumni, such as fundraising campaigns, sponsorship opportunities, alumni events, and exclusive programs or services.
* Collaborate with the Commercial Team to create alumni-focused initiatives that align with the school’s RIVER values and enhance long-term engagement.
* Maintain an up-to-date alumni database, ensuring accurate records for outreach and engagement activities.
Admissions:
* Develop and implement strategies to secure domestic and international student admissions, targeting families and educational agents to increase enrolment.
* Work with the Commercial Team and Admissions Lead to ensure high retention of students and seek innovative ways for admissions success.
* Leverage strong communication and relationship-building skills to engage with prospective families, international agents, and educational consultants to promote Scarisbrick Hall’s unique offerings.
* Create and execute an admissions plan to boost student acquisition and retention, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience for families.
Commercial KPIs:
·Ensure effective performance management is utilised focusing on SMART objectives for the commercial team.
·Set and monitor clear, measurable KPIs across all commercial functions.
·Analyse market trends, pricing models, and competitor activity to optimise commercial performance.
·Prepare regular reports on sales performance, growth forecasts, and pipeline management.
·Identify underperforming areas and implement corrective action plans for submission to the Head of Operations.
Operational Excellence & Quality Standards:
·Ensure services are delivered to consistently high standards, aligned with Scarisbrick Hall RIVER values.
·Implement quality control and customer feedback tools to drive improvements.
·Lead by example in fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
* Act as a brand ambassador, representing Scarisbrick Hall professionally in all client and community interactions and through attendance at commercial events as and when required.
Leadership & Team Development:
·Provide coaching, development, and performance management to commercial team members. These will include areas such as Admissions, Alumni, Sales, TCM, Theatre & Studios, Marketing & Content.
·Foster collaboration across departments to achieve shared business objectives.
·Champion a data-led, customer-first mindset throughout the team.
·Proven experience in a senior commercial or sales leadership role.
·Demonstrable track record of achieving and exceeding growth targets.
·Strong understanding of KPI frameworks, financial forecasting, and commercial reporting.
·Experience in improving customer journeys and service delivery standards.
·Confident communicator with exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills.
·Strategic thinker with a proactive, results-focused mindset.
·Experience in independent and educational sectors.
·Understanding of CRM and sales performance tools.
·Sales and Leadership training or qualifications.
