Berry Recruitment is out looking for an experienced Development Scientist to join a great team in the Crediton area.
Employment Details
Permanent, Hybrid: 2 days at home / 3 days in the office, Flexible working hours, Monday to Friday, Salary: £40,000 up to £45,000 per year, Start date: As soon as possible, Location: Crediton.
Overall
This role is responsible for managing and delivering product development projects for new and existing products from brief to first production.
Day to Day
* Work in an organised and autonomous manner within tight deadlines to ensure key deliverables are met.
* Maintain momentum and progress on multiple pieces of work at any one time.
* Understand, manage and elevate risk where relevant.
* Ensure you work towards clear and contracted deliverables and outputs, role‑modeling the highest levels of focus towards these results, whilst maintaining a degree of flexibility when these contracted outputs and goals change, ensuring you are able to pivot to changes in business requirements.
Risk Management
* Effectively analyse, communicate and advise the business on risk.
* Make clear recommendations which take risk into consideration but allow for decisive business action and progress.
Communication
* Excel in communications to a wide variety of stakeholders within and outside of R&D, ensuring verbal and written communication provides the clarity and levels of detail required for the situation and audience.
* Use your abilities and experience to communicate with clarity and ensure the right message has been received.
* Coach others in delivering a message with the right amount of detail and ensuring the key and important points have been clearly conveyed.
Continuous Development and Knowledge
Ensure you are up to date with the key nutritional and licensed medicine landscape themes. Highlight and discuss development needs and opportunities with your line manager to keep your knowledge current and capabilities fit for future needs. Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with company Health, Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures. Know the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities of the position; raise questions and concerns when faced with an ethical or compliance issue; apply integrity in all aspects of professional conduct.
Qualifications
* Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmacy or equivalent development experience.
* Product Development experience and expertise: experience delivering product developments from concept to marketplace, to meet the requirements of the whole supply chain.
* Process development experience and expertise: experience introducing new or improved process, including equipment trials and scale‑up challenges.
* Project Management Process Knowledge.
* Working knowledge of food regulatory environments.
* Technical skills and knowledge, continuous learning and improvement mindset including application of statistical analysis to datasets.
