Advanced Occupational Therapist – Neurosciences and Hyper Acute Rehab

We are seeking an experienced B7 Occupational Therapist for a 12‑month fixed‑term role within Neurosciences and a newly‑created Hyper Acute Rehab project. The position is full‑time (1 WTE), with 0.6 WTE allocated to neurosurgery & neurology services and 0.4 WTE to the Hyper Acute Rehab team.
The post holder will be part of the wider neurosciences service, working closely with all therapy teams. Responsibilities include delivering patient care across a 7-day service, including weekends and bank holidays, on a roster basis. The role also provides senior clinical and operational leadership, supports strategic development of the therapy service and maintains robust acute care experience.
Job responsibilities
* Provide specialised neuro‑specific assessments, goal‑directed treatments and multi‑therapy discharge planning.
* Liaise with local community services, specialist regional units and local DGHs.
* Work with a diverse AHP team on the hyperacute pathway, advising and assessing patients on outlying wards.
* Lead audit, research and service development activities.
* Supervise and educate staff and peer professionals.
Qualifications, knowledge and experience
* Masters in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
* Current HCPC registration.
* Significant relevant clinical experience in occupational therapy practice.
* Postgraduate experience working in an acute hospital with neurological patients.
* Proven senior experience in acute early rehabilitation of patients with complex needs.
* Demonstrated leadership, supervisory and audit/research experience.
* Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and implementing change in a clinical environment.
* Robust knowledge of NHS systems and healthcare priorities.
