Overview
Project Manager – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure Lead Major Civil Engineering Projects with a Growing Contractor. Oversee the successful delivery of major civil engineering and infrastructure schemes across the UK. Opportunity to manage high‑profile projects valued at £5 million+ within a well‑established contractor.
Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of complex civil engineering projects valued at £5 million+
* Manage teams of five or more staff across project operations
* Own programme delivery, project performance and operational challenges
* Develop project programmes and support monthly programme updates
* Approve weekly programmes produced by team members
* Produce Construction Phase Plans and Construction Environmental Management Plans independently
* Ensure projects are delivered safely and in accordance with health, safety and environmental standards
* Promote innovation and identify opportunities to improve cost and programme efficiencies
* Support and mentor Engineers and Site Agents to aid career development
* Manage technical issues independently and provide practical project solutions
* Manage project information, including TQs and documentation
* Support monthly commercial reporting processes including CVR production with commercial teams
* Demonstrate understanding of NEC and JCT contract requirements and responsibilities
* Manage subcontractor relationships and communicate project requirements effectively
* Produce monthly management and board reporting packs independently
* Deliver project presentations to clients and stakeholders confidently
* Support project claims through accurate record keeping and reporting
* Drive quality standards across projects and ensure defective works are closed out promptly
* Attend and contribute to HSEQ meetings and internal working groups
* Identify and support the development of future managers within the business
Qualifications and Experience
* Previous experience managing major civil engineering or infrastructure projects valued at £5 million+
* Experience managing teams of five or more staff successfully
* Membership of a recognised professional body such as ICE or CIOB
* Leadership training or management development experience
* Strong understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts
* Good understanding of planning software and programme management
* Ability to lead project delivery while maintaining strong health, safety and environmental standards
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Commercial awareness and understanding of CVR reporting processes
* Ability to mentor and develop junior team members effectively
* Proactive and solutions‑focused approach to project challenges
Additional Beneficial Experience
* Experience delivering highways, infrastructure or major civil engineering schemes
* Experience producing CPP and CEMP documentation independently
* Experience presenting to clients and senior leadership teams
* Strong understanding of quality assurance and auditing processes
