18 Hour Contract - Mini Bus Driver and Garden and Maintenance

Availability: Candidate must be Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM

Please note: No weekend or bank holiday work is required.

The current working pattern consists of the following shifts:

* Monday: 8:00am – 10:00am and 3:00pm – 5:00pm - Driving
* Wednesday: 8:45am – 10:00am and 3:00pm – 4:30pm - Driving
* Thursday: 8:30am – 10:00am and 3:00pm – 5:00pm - Driving

An additional 8 hours of maintenance and gardening can be allocated to the person who takes on this role, with these hours placed into the rota where suitable.

Maintenance duties will include tasks such as maintaining the garden areas, supporting the upkeep and tidiness of outdoor spaces, and carrying out general indoor jobs. These may include basic repairs, painting, the bus maintenance only includes ensuring cleanliness and addressing minor issues as they arise.

Additional shifts are available when required to provide cover.

The first week will consist of shadowing runs. During the second week, you will begin driving alongside another driver, who will provide support.

Full training given by Company upon commencing Employment.

The candidate must hold a full, clean UK driving licence with no driving convictions.

JOB ROLE:

A. Supporting the service user's:

To develop knowledge of a range of learning support needs relevant to Oak Tree

Life Skills CIC

1) To develop an understanding of the specific needs of service users we support.

2) To work as part of a team to ensure the wellbeing and personal development of the service users, enhancing their learning opportunities and life skills.

3) To establish a supportive relationship with the service user concerned.

4) To manage the service users as advised by the seniors and/or management team.

5) To ensure the safety of the service users at all times.

B. Key Responsibilities:

1) Transportation: Safely transport adults with disabilities to various locations such as medical appointments, day programs, community events, and residential facilities.

2) Passenger Assistance: Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the minibus, including those using wheelchairs or other mobility aids. Ensure all passengers are safely secured and comfortable during transit.

3) Safety Compliance: Follow all traffic laws and organizational safety protocols, ensuring the safety of passengers at all times. Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and report any maintenance issues.

4) Customer Service: Provide friendly and courteous service to passengers, building a positive rapport and ensuring their needs are met. Communicate effectively with passengers, caregivers, and staff.

5) Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, passenger counts, and any incidents or delays. Submit required documentation in a timely manner.

6) Vehicle Maintenance: Keep the minibus clean and in good working order, ensuring it is ready for use each day.

Qualifications:

1) Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid [Insert Country/State] driver's license suitable for operating a minibus.

2) Clean Driving Record: A demonstrated history of safe driving with no serious traffic violations.

3) Experience: Previous experience in a driving role, particularly in transporting individuals with disabilities or other vulnerable populations, is preferred.

4) Physical Capability: Ability to assist passengers with mobility needs, including lifting and securing wheelchairs.

5) Background Check: A full enhanced DBS is required.

Skills and Abilities:

1) Empathy and Patience: A caring attitude and the ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion.

2) Attention to Detail: Careful adherence to schedules, routes, and safety procedures.

3) Communication: Good verbal communication skills, able to interact effectively with passengers and colleagues.

4) Problem-Solving: Ability to respond to unexpected situations calmly and make decisions to ensure passenger safety.

5) Reliability: Dependable, punctual, and committed to providing consistent, high-quality service.

6)The individual undertaking this role must have the skills and ability to carry out a range of maintenance and gardening duties. They should be capable of maintaining garden areas, ensuring outdoor spaces are kept clean, tidy, and well-presented.

They must be confident in completing general maintenance tasks within the building, including basic repairs and painting. The individual should also be responsible for supporting the upkeep and cleanliness of vehicles, including bus maintenance, and addressing any minor issues promptly.

The role requires a proactive approach to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and overall environment, both indoors and outdoors.

Work Environment:

The role requires working in a variety of weather conditions, with most of the workday spent driving and assisting passengers.

The position involves early morning or late evening shifts as well as working split shifts.

Supporting other colleagues:

1) To report any problems about arrangements or any incidents to the senior and management.

2) To understand the importance of documentation and uphold this understanding during your day-to-day working, examples such as daily notes and incidents reports.

3) Respond promptly to radio requests for assistance (where possible).

Supporting Oak Tree Life Skills CIC

1) To liaise, advise and consult with the senior, management and other staff where necessary.

2) To be aware of and follow all Oak Tree Life Skills CIC policies and procedures – taking responsibility to ensure these have been read and understood.

3) To maintain confidentiality regarding service users, staff, seniors, management and any other matters

4) To complete any other task as directed by workshop facilitators, senior and management.

5) Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to around the centre to make for a safe environment – anything untoward is to be passed to the co-ordinator to be dealt with immediately.

Essential Characteristics:

1) The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people

2) Understand the necessity for confidentiality

3) Understand the role of teamwork in providing a quality service

4) Motivated and enthusiastic to work within the Health and Social Care sector

5) Availability to provide cover during periods of holiday or sickness

6) Understanding of own behaviour and how this impacts on colleagues, clients and visitors.

To represent the company in a professional manner at all times in and outside of working hours.

Personal Development:

1) To discuss one's own developments needs with Management in order to consistently achieve the best practice and continuously improve personal performance.

2) To attend relevant training courses as agreed by the Management and in accordance with one's own personal development plan.

5) Participate in team meetings and initiatives, providing the necessary contribution for effective team working.
