Role Purpose This role supports the efficient daily operations of a transportation and logistics department. Key responsibilities include:
4. Identifying and resolving operational issues promptly and effectively.
5. Coordinating accurate inbound and outbound booking schedules at storage and processing sites.
6. Maintaining up-to-date records and documentation.
7. Using email and phone communication to resolve issues with internal teams and external partners.
8. Rebooking missed loads or transport slots.
9. Completing administrative tasks to support smooth logistics operations.
10. Escalating issues to the relevant coordinator or team lead for follow-up.
Key Tasks
11. Planning and scheduling transport loads from external storage sites to central facilities.
12. Managing recall processes from off-site storage to processing locations.
13. Updating schedules, booking collections/deliveries, and maintaining regular communication with transport providers.
14. Monitoring transport progress to ensure timely collections, transit, and deliveries.
15. Meeting and maintaining service level agreements and performance targets (KPIs).
Responsibilities
16. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with customers and third-party logistics providers.
17. Ensuring timely and effective customer service and query resolution.
18. Communicating any operational concerns to supervisors for follow-up.
19. Supporting UK and European transport teams with operational planning.
20. Participating in carrier performance reviews and performance reporting.
21. Completing handovers when shifts rotate or responsibilities transfer.
22. Supporting team operations with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and service excellence.
23. Promoting adherence to best practices and driving continuous improvement.
Experience & Skills
24. Background in supply chain operations, preferably in a retail-focused environment.
25. Previous experience in office-based administration.
26. Knowledge of transport and logistics operations (preferred).
27. Strong numerical and analytical skills.
28. Proven customer service and relationship-building experience.
29. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Excel, Outlook).
30. Understanding of international or European logistics operations, particularly asset-free models (desirable).
31. Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
