A 10‑year‑old boy from Carmarthen is in his final year at Myrddin Special Unit. He has ASD and ADHD and requires constant supervision due to a tendency to wander. He thrives on routine, enjoys playing and has a remarkable ability to problem‑solve. He is toilet trained but may need encouragement, loves animals, can ride a horse, and is eager to learn new things when the environment is familiar. He enjoys fresh fruit and vegetables, likes to ride his bike (though he needs close supervision), and is a kind, loving child. Whoever takes care of him will find it a thoroughly rewarding experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Support the boy in gaining independence.
2. Enable him to interact socially in his community.
3. Provide support while shopping and attending activities of interest.
4. Assist in developing independent living skills.
5. Offer companionship, engage in conversation, and provide social interaction.
6. Encourage attendance at appointments.
7. Ensure the boy’s safety at all times during working hours.
8. Carry out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer.
9. Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act.
10. Be mindful of safeguarding issues and report any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on 01267 228751.
11. Contact the GP, social worker or local authority if medical assistance is needed.
Relationships: Communication / Nature of Contacts
* Develop a supportive and caring relationship with the boy.
* Undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
* Contact people on behalf of the boy when necessary.
Job Working Environment
Work at the boy’s home, supporting him to access facilities and community activities.

* Ability to develop long‑term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
* A full, clean driving licence; use of a car is likely required depending on the boy’s needs and proximity.
* Prepared to have business use on vehicle insurance to use the vehicle within work hours.
* Prepared to undergo training to best meet the boy’s needs.
Requirements
* Experience or training in supporting individuals with ASD and ADHD.
* Strong empathy, patience, and communication skills.
* Ability to maintain routine and provide constant supervision.
* Driving licence and willingness to use vehicle if required.
* Willingness to undergo a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check and criminal record check upon acceptance of the job offer.
