Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a four-year degree-granting institution of the University System of Georgia, is accepting applications for Part-time Teacher¿s Assistant for the Fulton County Upward Bound 6-week Summer Enrichment Program. Teacher¿s Assistants (TA) are responsible for the well-being of Upward Bound (UB) students and supporting UB instructors. Counseling, academic tutoring, and developing interactive activities are all facets of this responsibility. TA are expected to keep close contact with the students in all aspects of community life. The TA will report to the Director of Fulton County Upward Bound.
Responsibilities
1. Supervises students at all times to ensure general safety and compliance of program rules.
2. Supervises students¿ daily schedule of activities. Assists in coordinating and providing oversight of students during planned Upward Bound activities.
3. Helps to maintain an efficient and effective operation. Assists with physical training/team sports/leisure activities, etc.
4. Handles minor problems and refers all others to the appropriate Upward Bound staff.
5. Monitors students during classes and ensures that a learning environment is created during study sessions.
6. Supervises students at recreational activities, field trips, and outings.
7. Provide assistance with daytime and evening programs as needed.
8. Assists other staff with any other responsibilities.
9. Resides on a college campus (1-week overnight stay) for the duration of the Summer Enrichment Program.
10. Performs other duties that are within the scope of the program and assigned by the Program Direct
Required Qualifications
11. High School Diploma required Associates and Bachelor¿s degree preferred.
12. Ability to work with diverse and undeserved students.

13. Interest in working with adolescents and excels in a team setting
14. Interpersonal skills, sensitivity to the needs of the disadvantaged, and commitment to the goals of Upward Bound
15. Intangible traits such reliability, flexibility, effective communication, trustworthiness, motivation, leadership qualities and a positive attitude
16. Preference will be given to candidates with similar backgrounds as program participant
