We are currently recruiting for a Chef to join our team at one of our independent schools in Shrewsbury SY2 6NZ.
This is a permanent, full time position, working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. This is a year-round contract working various shift patterns through-out the week.

We are seeking a passionate and imaginative Chef to support the Chef Manager in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to approximately 400 students and staff daily. This role includes assisting with menu creation, leading kitchen operations, and deputising for the Chef Manager in their absence.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
1. Support the Chef Manager in menu creation, planning, and presentation, delivering fresh, world-inspired cuisine made from scratch using local produce.
2. Deputise for the Chef Manager in their absence, ensuring the smooth running of daily breakfast and hospitality services for up to 400 covers.
3. Prepare and cook fresh food “little and often” during service, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
4. Contribute innovative ideas, themed promotions, and special events to enhance the customer experience.
5. Lead, motivate, train, and develop the catering team to create a positive, multi-skilled, and self-sufficient unit.
6. Ensure clear communication of menu or ingredient changes and maintain accurate documentation.
7. Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, allergen regulations, company policies, and hygiene standards, including correct use of PPE.
8. Support stock control, food cost management, budget targets, and completion of weekly/monthly reporting and administration.
9. Uphold excellent client relationships and assist with customer satisfaction initiatives and meetings where appropriate.
10. Promote sustainability and ESG commitments, including reducing food waste, mindful menu planning, and environmentally responsible kitchen practices.
