We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Butcher to join our award-winning farm shop team. You'll be working with high-quality locally sourced meat preparing a full range of cuts, maintaining excellent standards of food safety, and delivering outstanding customer service.
This role also involves receiving full bodies of beef and breaking them down in-house - so applicants must be physically capable and confident handling whole carcasses.
Key responsibilities:
Cutting, preparing, and displaying meat products to a high standard. Breaking down whole bodies of beef and other carcasses
Receiving meat deliveries (manual handling involved)
Advising customers on cuts, cooking methods, and product origin
Maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards at all times
Ensuring displays are well-presented, fully stocked, and appealing
Supporting stock rotation and inventory management
Helping to maintain a clean and well-organised butchery environment
Working collaboratively with the wider farm shop team
Weekend work is essential, as part of the regular rotation
Requirements:
Previous butchery experience preferred -but not essential, as we are happy to train the right person
Ability to work confidently with knives and machinery (training provided if needed)
Physically strong enough to handle full carcasses and cold room stock movement
High personal standards of cleanliness, safety, and organisation
Excellent customer service skills
A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
Comfortable working in a busy, customer-facing environment
