EQUANS are looking for a Fire Door Technical Supervisor working at The University Of Sheffield Student Village. This role is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

The Fire Door Technical Services Supervisor reports to the Technical Services Fire Door Manager and will be based at an EQUANS site in Sheffield or Rotherham, travelling across multiple contracts. The role oversees fire door statutory compliance on delegated PFI Projects and provides line management for the mobile Fire Door Inspection and Remedial team, while supporting operational teams across PFI projects to maintain statutory compliance.
Main Responsibilities / Duties
* A focal point for Fire Door Statutory compliance across PFI projects, coordinating with operational, technical, site teams and service partners to minimize compliance risk.
* Line management of the mobile fire door inspection & maintenance team, including absence management, performance reviews, recruitment and employee development.
* Manage and update the company-approved system ‘Bolster’ for fire door inspection and maintenance, liaising with CAD technicians to ensure accurate drawings.
* Oversee quality of documentation and standards of work on site for both self-delivery and subcontracted services.
* Coordinate with subcontractors and in‑house operatives, ensuring attendance details, timely reporting, and closure of work orders.
* Provide technical/logistical support to other contracts’ Technical Service Managers, including performance feedback, training updates, and cost verification.
* Directly manage subcontractor work on fire door remedials and installations, covering tendering, project management, SHEQ and financial controls.
* Produce reports for Account Managers, Operational and Technical Teams regarding fire door inspections and remedial works.
* Support training and rollout of new processes to respective teams.
* Ensure compliance with EQUANS’s Code of Conduct and promote safe, compliant practices.
* Demonstrate integrity and a professional image at all times.
* Take personal responsibility & accountability, continually improving safety and quality.
* Perform any other duties necessary to support role objectives and overall company success.
* Conduct regular audits and MSV visits to confirm services meet ISO & OHSAS standards.
Qualifications or Required Experience
* Completed a relevant trade apprenticeship in Joinery or construction and holds an NVQ Level 3 in Fire Doors Inspections.
* Recognised Fire Door Inspection qualifications (e.g., BM Trada) and knowledge of relevant legislation and industry guidelines.
* Confident communicator with excellent customer interaction skills.
* Ability to manage and prioritise workload.
* Administration skills, including use of CAFM system and Microsoft Office applications.
* Strong analytical and planning skills with innovative thinking.
* Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication at all levels.
* Experience liaising directly with clients on similar FM projects.
* Experience undertaking AP/RP duties within similar FM projects.
Personal Qualities
* Good communication, customer care, and proactive problem‑solving skills.
* Experience with staff management and performance management techniques.
* Ability to lead and develop teams and individuals.
* Flexible and willing to work out of hours and travel to other sites.
* Possesses a current valid driving licence.
