About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated English and Maths Functional Skills Tutor (Level 1) to support learners in Basingstoke. The role involves delivering high‑quality, accessible teaching across both subjects over two days per week for a 19.5‑week period.
You'll be working with learners who have Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), so experience adapting teaching strategies and breaking down concepts clearly is essential. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging Functional Skills English and Maths (Level 1) sessions.
* Adapt teaching methods to support learners with SLCN.
* Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
* Work collaboratively with staff and contribute to a positive learning environment.
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, learning plans, and progress.
Requirements
* Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths and English (Level 1 essential).
* At least 6 months experience working in UK schools in the last 5 years.
* Understanding of, or experience with, learners with SLCN.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to build rapport and create an inclusive learning atmosphere.
* Relevant teaching qualification is desirable but not essential depending on experience.
