Senior Civils Technician - London
A highly regarded, design-led engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Civils Technician to join its growing London team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician to step into a key position within an expanding civils department, working on a broad mix of UK-led projects across residential, commercial, public realm and infrastructure sectors.
You'll be joining a people-focused consultancy with an outstanding staff retention record, strong technical reputation, and a varied workload that avoids teams becoming siloed or pigeonholed.
Projects are diverse and include:
* Residential developments and mixed-use schemes
* Commercial projects and growing data centre portfolio
* Public realm and town centre regeneration
* Masterplanning and strategic infrastructure layouts
* Drainage and highways packages for building-led developments
* Utility / service coordination including electrical, gas and wider infrastructure
* Select international projects across mainland Europe
This role offers the chance to become one of the senior technical figures in a growing team, with genuine scope to help shape standards, mentor junior staff, and develop into a longer-term Civil / BIM leadership position.
The Role
As a Senior Civils Technician, you'll play a key role in technical delivery, project coordination and team support.
Responsibilities will include:
* Producing and coordinating technical drawings and Civil 3D models
* Supporting delivery of highways, drainage, levels, earthworks and infrastructure packages
* Programming work in line with project deadlines and client requirements
* Providing progress updates to project leads and senior management
* Coordinating with engineers, architects and other disciplines
* Attending design meetings, BIM meetings and site visits
* Supporting document control and project file management
* Mentoring junior technicians and assisting less experienced team members
* Helping develop internal BIM / CAD standards, templates and workflows
* Supporting quality control and checking technical output
What We're Looking For
* Strong experience in a similar Civils Technician / CAD Technician / Civil 3D Technician role
* Proven experience delivering drainage, highways and infrastructure drawings
* Civil 3D proficiency is essential
* Experience working on UK development or building-related civils projects
* Strong understanding of coordination, accuracy checking and drawing control
* Ability to manage workload and support junior staff
* Good communication skills and collaborative approach
Desirable Experience
* Experience with Revit / Navisworks for coordination purposes
* Clash detection and BIM workflow experience
* AutoCAD experience
* Progress toward technician chartership or similar accreditation
