Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Barking and Dagenham
We are working with a high-achieving and community-focused secondary school in Barking and Dagenham to appoint a Teaching Assistant for the new academic year.
The school offers an inclusive and structured learning environment, where teaching assistants are a vital part of the academic and pastoral support systems. Staff are well-supported by experienced leaders, and the school places a strong focus on progression for both students and team members.
This role is perfect for someone confident supporting students across a range of subjects and who has a proactive approach to learning support.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and in-class support across KS3 and KS4
* Assist students with SEN, EAL or those at risk of disengagement
* Support subject teachers with preparation, classroom tasks and behaviour management
* Encourage student confidence, focus and engagement during lessons
* Participate in student progress tracking and review meetings
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting secondary students in a school or tuition setting
* A calm, flexible and resilient approach
* Good subject knowledge, particularly in core subjects
* Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
* An interest in future careers in teaching, mentoring or SEN support
Location and Transport - Barking and Dagenham, East London
* Easily accessible via Barking, Becontree and Dagenham Heathway stations (District & C2C lines)
* Bus routes include: 5, 62, 173, 287, EL2
