Due to continued growth, we are now looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Manager to join our infrastructure team based in Burton Upon Trent. As the Senior Commercial Manager, you will oversee the financial and commercial aspects of part of the Infrastructure business.
Your responsibilities will include estimating and bid writing, supporting business development efforts, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. This pivotal role requires strong leadership to support the Operations Director in delivering profitable growth for an already successful business.
Our Infrastructure team delivers M&E projects for clients in Defence, Retail, Rail, Commercial, Industrial, and Healthcare sectors across England, with projects ranging from:
Key Responsibilities:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers in line with the Group Commercial Policy.
Disseminate key contractual mechanisms and notifications to the project team and advise on contract administration.
Ensure all contractual obligations are met and manage amendments or disputes.
Identify potential risks during tender stage and record them in the risk register. Develop mitigation plans as needed.
Support the Operations Director with risk identification and mitigation at project and business levels.
Contribute to the strategic direction of the company and support long-term growth initiatives.
Monitor and control costs to ensure projects are completed within budget.
Resolve challenges, disputes, or issues during the project lifecycle.
Ensure proper project management, including budgets, cost control, and comprehensive CVRs.
Identify, cost, and agree on changes/variations promptly, ensuring March's entitlements are recovered.
Meet financial targets and forecasts, providing regular updates to senior management.
Skills and Experience:
Proven track record managing the commercial aspects of MEP projects.
Minimum 5 years experience as a Commercial Manager.
Experience with MEP building services, including LV & HV infrastructure, lighting, small power, data networks, HVAC, LTHW & renewables (desirable).
Excellent listening, questioning, and consulting skills.
Outstanding people management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Qualifications:
Full UK driving license.
Relevant degree or professional qualification.
Membership of a recognized professional body (desirable).
