Powys County Council currently applies a discretionary real living Wage supplement to all employees earning less than £13.45 per hour About the role: To assist with the preparation, cooking, serving or delivering of food in a Powys County Council premise, by efficient use of resources in compliance with the Food Safety Act, compliance to nutritional standards / corporate health as per Welsh Government and all relative procedures, policies and legislation. This may be meals for schools, restaurants, meals on wheels, buffets etc. Promotion of the Catering Service through promotional events and customer awareness. Help support the Cook or step up to Cook in times of staff absences where you will adhere to Powys policies and procedures in the preparing, cooking and serving of meals to pupils. About you: Must have food safety level 2 qualification or equivalent. To have a flexible approach to work base and times of work as and when required. Good communication and work well as part of a team What you will do: 1. To comply with the Food Safety Act at all times and Powys Catering Services Policies and Procedures including the Hygiene and Hand washing Policy. Ensure good standards of safe working practices at all times 2. Assist with stock control, storage, preparation, cooking, delivering and serving of meals on and off site and cash collection is carried out to the requirements of the service 3. Assist with ensuring meals are served and are compliant with Welsh Government nutritional and budget guidelines maintaining portion control, including special diets 4. Maintain accurate records as required 5. Assist with the preparation of menus and costing associated with the catering service 6.
