Teaching Assistant (Reception Year 2) September 2026

Actual Salary: GBP 24,201 : GBP 27,305 per annum, dependent on experience, skills and qualifications
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week with a 30:minute unpaid break.
Working Weeks: 41 weeks of the year (term time plus an additional 6 weeks supporting holiday club).
The Role
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and confident Teaching Assistant with experience of working with children aged 4:7 years and an ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of EYFS and Key Stage 1. Suitable candidates will ideally possess a relevant childcare qualification (minimum level 3) and valid Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake this training).
With a positive and flexible disposition and nurturing approach to supporting children s learning across the curriculum, the successful candidate will be child focused with a clear understanding of their safeguarding responsibilities. Previous experience of running small intervention groups and providing support to children with SEND or EAL would be beneficial.
Safeguarding knowledge, the ability to communicate effectively with both children and colleagues and work under instruction as well as independently is essential and will be assessed during interview.
The key responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant include, but are not limited to:
Working closely and under the direction of the Class Teacher, to support with the delivery of high:quality teaching and enrichment. Supervising children at various times throughout the day including break and lunch duties. Working with small groups and individual children as directed by the Class Teacher. Supporting pupils during co:curricular activities and accompanying on school trips, including residential visits if required. Supporting in the provision of wrap around care supporting breakfast club, afterschool care and holiday club provisions as directed.

Essential:
A genuine passion and relevant experience for working with children An Early Years qualification (Level 3 or equivalent) GCSE or equivalent English and Mathematics Grade C or above Experience of working with children in the 4:7 age range (this may include volunteering) Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 Curriculum A positive, flexible and supportive team member Excellent communication skills with the ability to establish rapport with pupils, parents and colleagues A willingness to support and engage in the whole life of the School A good knowledge of child development and learning processes including barriers to learning. Knowledge of the statutory requirements of legislation concerning Safeguarding and Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and inclusion. Good ICT skills Hold a valid paediatric first aid qualification, or be willing to undertake training
Desirable:
Experience of delivering evidence:based interventions, and personalised learning. Experience of tracking and monitoring children s progress. A Teaching Assistant qualification
