We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of ESG Communications.
The Head of ESG Communications is tasked with developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy to bolster HSBC's reputation in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) areas. This includes addressing climate and environmental commitments, advancing the bank's social agenda, and upholding governance standards. The role involves leading a team of communications professionals to support HSBC's transition to net zero, enhance social impact, and maintain high governance standards, while fostering necessary behavioural and cultural changes across the organisation.

In this role you will:
• Develop and Execute Strategies: Lead the development and execution of comprehensive communications strategies to enhance HSBC's reputation in ESG areas.
• Collaborate with Leadership: Work closely with OpCo members, Senior Leaders and leadership teams across the Bank to drive the ESG agenda.
• Manage Relationships: Lead interactions with the Group Chief Sustainability Officer and engage with Investor Relations on ESG measures and disclosures.
• Ensure Compliance: Oversee risk and issues management, ensuring compliance around greenwashing and labelling.
• Coordinate Global Efforts: Direct a global network of reputation, content, publishing, and media colleagues through integrated planning and high-quality delivery.
• Advise Strategically: Offer strategic advice on sustainability communications across the enterprise, including regional and line of business sustainability heads.
• Enhance Stakeholder Engagement: Develop compelling narratives to communicate HSBC's transition to net zero, progress in diversity and inclusion, and strong corporate governance.
• Foster Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of communications professionals, ensuring effective coordination and execution of ESG communications strategies.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
• Communications: Demonstrated experience in developing and executing communications strategies, particularly within the ESG domain.
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of communications professionals, fostering collaboration and high-quality delivery.
• Strategic Collaboration: Strong capability to work closely with leadership teams across various functions to drive the ESG agenda.
• Relationship Management: Experience in managing interactions with senior stakeholders.
• Insight-Driven Decision Making: Ability to utilise best practice measurement and insights to guide strategic decision-making.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Experience in collaborating with external-facing teams to deliver cohesive narratives and approaches.
