SQL Developer – Contract
Location: Hybrid – Glasgow (2 days a week onsite)
Contract Length: Initial 6 months (opportunity for extension)

Role Overview
A leading financial services group is seeking an experienced SQL Developer to join a team that plays a
critical role in supporting customers through key moments in their policy
lifecycle.
This role sits at the heart of customer
communications and data‑driven decision making, ensuring accuracy, clarity,
and positive customer outcomes. You will work within well‑established
customer processes, while also having the opportunity to influence how data and
communications are managed and delivered.
The role is primarily focused on a customer communications / statements
project, supporting the build of copy
and templates using SQL‑driven data extraction and transformation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design, develop, maintain, and optimise complex SQL queries to support customer lifecycle processes
2. Develop and support SQL‑based solutions linked to customer communications and statements
3. Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure communications are accurate, timely, and customer‑focused
4. Use XSLT stylesheets to support and shape customer‑facing communications
5. Assess and manage customer impact when changes are made to data, logic, or communications
6. Contribute to continuous improvement of data quality, efficiency, and reliability
7. Ensure delivered solutions meet regulatory, data governance, and customer experience standards
8. Support both reporting and communications workstreams as priorities shift
Essential Skills & experience
9. Strong SQL development experience in a production environment
10. experience working with structured data sets at scale
11. Strong attention to detail, particularly where customer and regulatory impact is involved
12. Understanding of customer lifecycle processes or customer communications
13. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
14. Comfortable working in a change‑driven environment with evolving requirements
Nice to Have / Desirable
15. experience working with XSLT stylesheets
16. Exposure to insurance, pensions, or financial services environments
17. experience supporting or enhancing existing business processes
18. Power BI or reporting experience
19. Knowledge of the Sonata wealth platform or similar systems
Additional Information
20. The role will allow flexibility to move between reporting and communications workstreams depending on workload demand
21. The position supports customer support functions and is non‑functional in nature
22. Hybrid working model with attendance expected in Edinburgh or Glasgow when required
