Assistant Conservation Officer – Nature Recovery / Conservation
5 days (37 hours) per week, until 31 March 2028

Join the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s Conservation Team, working with farmers and landowners to restore and connect habitats at a landscape scale. By enabling the re-introduction of traditional land management practices, you will increase the diversity of wildlife and boost the resilience of protected sites. As an Assistant Conservation Officer, you will:
- Help facilitate capital works and management agreements for landowners to optimise conditions for wildlife on sites.
- Assist with managing and monitoring sites, including organising grazing for nature conservation, and maintain records to report on outputs and outcomes.
- Assist with the provision of advice and technical support to landowners and farmers in the National Park.
- Assist with the supervision of volunteers and contractors.
- Work with key partners to achieve strategic outcomes for nature recovery.
You will have:
- An appropriate qualification at HND/degree level or other form of study or equivalent work or volunteering experience.
- An understanding of basic ecological principles.
- Familiarity with UK habitats and species of conservation concern.
- A good knowledge of current UK conservation issues and practical habitat management.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team working, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative, managing time and working to targets and deadlines.
- Ability to follow instructions, protocols and specifications.
- Good organisational and IT skills.
- Experience of working outdoors in all weathers.
- Full driver’s licence and use of own vehicle for work purposes.
Salary and Benefits:
A salary of £27,711-£29,093 per annum, minimum 25 days holiday rising to 30 days, plus public holidays, generous local government pension scheme, great flexible working arrangements and career development opportunities.
