Overview
Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist – School-Age. 22.5 hours per week, term time only. The role involves supporting children who attend mainstream schools and specialist resources in Reading and Wokingham, planning and managing your own school-age caseload, and delivering services using an impact-based model of clinical decision making. Travel to several sites with room for some home working.
Responsibilities
* Function as a specialist autonomous clinician, supporting delivery of the CYPIT model, development of the CYPF (Children and Young People and Families) model, and provide support to more junior CYPIT therapists and non-professional staff.
* Provide high quality assessment and interventions for children and young people with developmental/complex needs in areas of specialist expertise, using evidence-based and person-centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
* Contribute to designated clinical projects and provide specialist therapy input into clinical services within a designated area/team, as requested by Clinical Leads.
* Shadow therapists in various settings, attend training sessions, and develop knowledge and skills within the wider school-age therapy team.
About the Team and Role Context
Our Children and Young People’s Integrated Therapy service is shaped around the needs of the child and family. We are structured within integrated teams (physio, OT, SaLT, integrated therapy assistants and admin) and work closely together to ensure the greatest therapeutic impact. You will be part of a welcoming and collaborative team in West Berkshire, with support and direction from a Band 7 therapist.
