Who we are
Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK’s only international high-speed railway, High Speed 1 (HS1).
The 109km HS1 infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations; St Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Stratford International.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with our client HS1 Ltd, undertaking a diverse range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations – through to station facilities management and retail on behalf of our client.

The role
We are looking for a Service Delivery Manager to lead and direct the signalling team, acting as a role model and mentor with full responsibility for the shift, implementing Network Rail and Network Rail High Speed policies professionally and efficiently to develop a high performing team that delivers an optimum train service.
Key responsibilities include:
* During an incident, provide operational leadership to the signalling team and timely, clear and effective communication with relevant customers and internal and external stakeholders, such as the maintenance team and Train and Freight Operating Companies, so that an optimum service is delivered to customers and passengers.
* Build and maintain effective relationships with relevant customers and internal and external stakeholders, such as maintenance teams and Train and Freight Operating Companies to understand their needs and deliver an optimum service.
* Assess, challenge and implement pre‑agreed delivery, maintenance and contingency plans, using all available information and systems, so that train performance is maximised.
* Working with Network Rail High Speed Signalling centre and Network Rail Controls, direct resources in response to all accidents and incidents affecting infrastructure to provide an efficient and robust response.
* Specify requirements and validate local emergency plans for the Signalling Centre delivering consistency and alignment with route requirements to maintain compliance with Network Rail and Network Rail High Speed guidelines.
* Implement and comply with the relevant Network Rail High Speed standards and procedures, the Rule Book and applicable elements of the Health & Safety Management System.
* Advise and update colleagues, customers and contractors on relevant operating and train service information to facilitate a high standard of train performance.
* Undertake initial investigations into operational incidents, including interviews and obtaining written reports where necessary, to capture perishable information that will inform full investigations.
* Establish a robust safety culture through assuring the delivery of safety bulletins and relevant safety briefings to the operations team. Provide additional briefings where required to maintain compliance with Network Rail and Network Rail High Speed guidelines, standards and procedures.
* Operate and assist on Signalling Panels or Signal Workstations as required and where competent to do so to provide support during times of high workload and/or in times of exceptional circumstances.
* Responsible for the provision and delivery of adequate training material, plans and assessment processes for Electrical & Mechanical Management Information System (EMMIS) Controllers, Signallers and Shift Managers, covering initial and periodic refresher training.

Drugs and Alcohol Standard
All prospective candidates who are offered a conditional role will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your application will be rescinded if you record a positive test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
