Overview
A leading UKernment regulator is seeking an experienced Project Portfolio Support Officer to provide hands‑on PPM support as part of an HR innovation and change project. An external consultancy will be engaged to review HR processes; you’ll act as the internal PPM “hub” setting up early project documentation, coordinatingernance, connecting stakeholders, and ensuring clear, timelymunications across the portfolio.
10. Portfolio / PMO setup: Establish and maintain core artefacts (project plans, RAID logs/risk registers, status reports).
11. Stakeholder management: Serve as the internal point of contact between the Director, the external consultancy, senior leaders, and wider stakeholders - ensuring alignment and momentum.
12. Data & tooling: Maintain accurate portfolio data; use Excel to produce dashboards/trackers; leverage Power Automate (desirable) to streamline repetitive PMO tasks.
13. Documentation & policy support: Help draft and refine early project documentation and policy‑adjacent materials related to HR change.
14. Line management (potential): May oversee a administrative resource to support delivery.
Skills and experience required
Essential
15. Proven PPM experience within UK Civil Service or an Arm’s‑Length Body (regulatory background highly advantageous).
16. Strongernance, planning, and risk management capability (RAID, dependency management).
17. Excellent written and verbalmunications skills: briefings, senior‑level summaries, and stakeholder updates.
18. Advanced Excel skills (tracking, dashboards, pivot tables); confident with Microsoft 365.
19. Ability to work at pace, organise multiple workstreams, and support senior leaders in aplex environment.
Desirable
20. Experience supporting HR change projects/programmes.
21. Experience working alongside external consultancies on HR/process reviews.
22. Exposure to policy drafting or policy‑adjacent documentation in a public sector context.
23. Familiarity with benefits realisation, portfolio prioritisation, and assurance.
