Technical Manager
Technical Manager – East Midlands - Competitive Salary + Benefits
The Job:
A market-leading and innovative company in the garden and consumer products sector is seeking a Technical Manager to join its UK-based technical team. This is a senior-level role responsible for leading new product development and ensuring regulatory compliance across a diverse and growing portfolio, including plant health products, biocides, pesticides, and other consumer garden inputs.
Key responsibilities include:
Product Development:
- Leading the development of new regulated and non-regulated products
- Managing formulation processes and feasibility evaluations
- Overseeing trials and continuous improvement projects
- Building long-term product innovation pipelines
- Liaising with suppliers and managing active input materials
- Monitoring product safety and portfolio performance
Regulatory & Compliance:
- Ensuring compliance with UK and EU regulations (PPP, Biocides, CLP, Fertilisers, etc.)
- Managing all regulatory submissions, renewals, and authorisations
- Maintaining up-to-date safety data sheets and technical documentation
- Monitoring legislative changes and advising on strategic implications
- Overseeing classification, labelling, and packaging compliance
- Engaging with regulatory bodies, contract labs, and industry groups

The Candidate:
- Degree-qualified in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Plant Science, Environmental Science)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a regulatory or technical role within the chemical or plant protection industries
- Strong understanding of UK and EU regulations relevant to plant protection, biocides, pesticides, fertilisers, or garden products
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end product development cycles
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and advising external partners
