Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Registered Nurse withthe experience and knowledge in Cardiac care to deliver training andeducation on L51 the Childrens Cardiology ward. The role is 28.75hrs a weekto include 23 hours in education and 5.75 hours clinically (to be worked as 2LDs a month in a band 6 role.)

Theexperienced applicant will support the education and training delivery forL51 and critical care. The applicant is required to provide evidence ofleadership in a clinical setting and possess excellent organisational skills,communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all teamsthroughout Leeds Childrens Hospital.

Knowledgeof national standards, policies and the ways in which these will influencenursing education in the future must be demonstrated. Evidence of workingindependently to plan, prepare and deliver training and education isessential. An accredited critical care L1/L2 qualification is essential forthe role. The applicant must hold a practice assessor qualification and arecognised leadership qualification.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve delivering education inaccordance with clinical standards, assisting in the planning, delivery andassessment of accredited Critical Care courses, managing risk in-line withLeeds Teaching Hospitals operational targets to meet regulatory compliancethrough training and education. The applicant(s) will demonstrate the abilityto create and sustain an innovative culture of education and learning inclinical practice. The successful candidate will work within the establishedPaediatric Critical Care Education team with a focus on L51 the cardiology wardand Cardiology HDU.

Job responsibilities

TheJobholder will play an essential role supporting Nursing and Midwifery(including ODP) education by facilitating education, training and practicedevelopment within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Thejob holder will facilitate the development of clinical staff both registeredand unregistered.

Thejob holder will support the assessment of the quality of clinical and otherpractice learning environments, and implement interventions for improvement.The job holder will support mentors / assessors and clinical professionaldevelopment for preceptorship.

Thejob holder will support the development of clinical practice mentors and keytrainers, providing supervision through on-site support and continuousprofessional development activities.

Thejob holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and wholeservice working. As a role model theywill promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality,effective and efficient care.

Tosupport, educate and develop registered and unregistered staff in theirclinical role and competencies in order to deliver high quality evidencebased care for service users.

Thepost holder will contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation ofeducation and training of registered and unregistered nursing staff.

Theywill work in collaboration with the senior management team to maintain andproject the vision and objectives of the service and ensure that they areembedded in practice.

Theywill identify and celebrate good practice and share with local and Trustteams.

Thepost holder will lead by example, will be responsible for disseminating goodpractice and actively challenging assumptions, practice and performance whereappropriate.

Experience

* Experience in caring for paediatrics
