About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Class 2F Building Control Inspector to join our council's Building Control team on an interim basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to ensuring building compliance and safety within our local authority area. The successful candidate will carry out site inspections, monitor compliance with building regulations, and provide technical expertise to support the delivery of quality building control services. Key Responsibilities: Conduct thorough inspections of building works at various stages to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and relevant legislation. Assess and report on structural and fire safety elements, energy efficiency, accessibility, and other compliance areas within building projects. Provide clear, professional advice and guidance to contractors, developers, architects, and members of the public regarding building control requirements. Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, site visits, and compliance assessments. Assist with investigations and enforcement actions related to non-compliance or unsafe building works. Work closely with the Building Control Surveyors and wider council teams to ensure smooth project progression. Ensure health and safety standards are upheld during inspections and site visits. Keep up-to-date with changes to building regulations, industry standards, and best practices. Qualifications and Experience: Qualified as a Class 2F Building Control Inspector or equivalent. Proven experience in local authority building control inspection or a related field. Strong knowledge of current Building Regulations and legislation, including fire safety, structural design, and energy efficiency requirements. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Proficient in report writing and record-keeping. Valid driving license and ability to travel to various sites within the council area.
