Permanent Finance Manager, opportunity in West Yorkshire
Hays Senior Finance is proud to partner with an established SME to appoint a Finance Manager on a permanent basis. The organisation is ideally situated and commutable from Wakefield, Batley, Dewsbury, Mirfield and surrounding areas.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified finance professional to take ownership of the finance function, particularly management accounting and month-end processes. You'll also influence strategic decision making, and work closely with operational teams to drive performance and profitability. As a key member of the finance team, you'll combine hands on financial management with proactive business partnering, turning data into insight and helping the organisation scale with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Reporting
Lead preparation of monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
Provide insightful analysis, commentary, and recommendations to support decision making
Oversee budgeting, forecasting and long term financial planning
Maintain robust financial controls and audit ready documentation
Business Partnering
Support operational leaders with meaningful financial insight
Conduct cost analysis, pricing reviews, margin analysis and scenario modelling
Challenge assumptions and drive accountability for financial outcomes
Collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, Operations and Supply Chain teams
Process & Systems Improvement
Strengthen processes, controls and reporting efficiency
Lead or support upgrades to ERP, finance systems or reporting tools
Develop dashboards, KPIs and performance tracking metrics
Operational Finance
Manage cash flow, working capital and banking relationships
Oversee payroll, supplier payments and credit control
Ensure compliance with all statutory and HMRC requirements
Co ordinate with year end accountants and auditors
About You
You will be a qualified finance professional, with post-qualification experience leading month-end processes, and experience in a business partnering function.
Strong SME experience, in fast-paced commercial environments, such as manufacturing, engineering, distribution & logistics, or product based environments.
UK finance experience is essential. You will also be fluent in written and verbal English, and a confident communicator who can simplify financial information for non-finance individuals.
Hands on, proactive and commercially engaged
Able to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery
