Job Title: R&D Engineer (Research and Development Engineer)

Position Overview: My client is seeking a talented and innovative R&D Engineer to join their research and development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the development, testing, and validation of new technologies and products, with a focus on pushing the boundaries of innovation in special purpose machinery.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the research and development efforts to conceptualise, design, and prototype new technologies and products in line with company objectives and market demands.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, design, and manufacturing to translate conceptual ideas into tangible prototypes and products.
* Conduct thorough research and analysis of emerging technologies, market trends, and customer needs to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
* Develop and implement testing protocols and procedures to validate product performance, reliability, and safety.
* Utilise advanced modelling and simulation tools to assess product feasibility and predict performance under various operating conditions.
* Lead prototype fabrication and assembly efforts, overseeing testing and validation activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and standards.
* Analyse test data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and refinement, driving iterative design iterations and enhancements.
* Prepare comprehensive documentation including technical reports, specifications, and test plans to support product development and regulatory compliance.
* Stay abreast of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in R&D to inform and guide decision-making and innovation initiatives.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
* Proven experience in research and development, preferably in the design and testing of special purpose machinery or similar complex systems.
* Strong technical proficiency in engineering principles, design methodologies, and testing techniques.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions.
* Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts and ideas to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
* Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work within established timelines.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

* £30,000 - £40,000
* 33 days holiday
* Pension (5%)
