A global manufacturing business is looking for a Materials Controller for an 18-month contract at its site in Whitstable, Kent. The Materials Controller will be responsible for ensuring the effective planning of manufactured and/or purchased material to maximise the effective use of resources and minimise any disruption caused by constraints. The role benefits from hybrid working, with you typically being on site 3 days per week. The working pattern means you finish work on a Friday at 1.30 pm, giving you more of a weekend! Role and Responsibilities of the Material Controller Ensure component requirements are accurate and communicated to suppliers in a timely and professional manner. Understand and implement any MRP-generated 'messages' and amend supplier schedules accordingly. Manage open order books to ensure appropriate order coverage and optimal inventory levels. Ensure that inventory levels of components under individual control are aligned with departmental objectives. Ensure external logistics costs are optimised using normal transportation methods. Highlight future supply risks Provide a monthly forecast of expected deliveries Proactively resolve invoice queries Identify and remedy excess inventory Candidate requirements for the Material Controller Previous experience required in a similar role CIPS qualification is advantageous Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good communication and interpersonal skills Be able to identify problems and offer solutions Sound working knowledge of ERP systems, preferably Infor Company Benefits Package Hybrid working.
