A client within the Public Sector based in Cambridgeshire is currently recruiting for an Area Maintenance Manager to join their Highways & Transport team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Highways Maintenance environment. The Role Key purpose of the role is to lead one of two area-based teams responsible for all reactive highway maintenance activities within a defined geographic area. You’ll manage highway faults such as potholes, flooding, and obstructions, ensuring safety and efficiency across the network, and be responsible for leading officers, customer engagement, contract management, and strategic planning. Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: • Managing a team delivering reactive highway maintenance and enforcement activities • Drafting scopes of work and managing projects from inception to completion • Overseeing contract management using tools such as CEMAR • Monitoring team KPIs and implementing performance improvements • Managing substantial reactive maintenance budgets and ensuring best value The Candidate To be considered for this role you will require: • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, Highway Engineering or equivalent experience • At least 10 years of experience in Highways & Transport in a similar leadership role • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle The below skills would be beneficial for the role: • Working knowledge of NEC4 or other highways contracts • Professional membership (e.g., ICE, IHE, CIHT) • NRSWA Streetworks Supervisor training The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £400 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £350 per day PAYE).
