This role involves leading in gynaecology histopathology and cervical screening as the lead consultant histopathologist.
We consider job share, part-time, or full-time applications.
Applications are invited for a Consultant Histopathologist (10PAs) specializing in Gynaecological histopathology, based at Hull Royal Infirmary, joining a consultant-led, subspecialist team.
SHYPS is a pathology network formed in 2021, comprising services from York & Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Hull Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, covering multiple hospital sites and community facilities across a wide region.
*The welcome bonus can be paid flexibly over up to 2 years and is subject to a payback clause if the candidate leaves within this period.
Main duties of the job
The department operates a subspecialist reporting system supported by teams of consultants. The role requires leadership in gynaecology histopathology and cervical screening.
The department has established an in-house molecular testing service for lung, colorectal, and melanoma cancers and supports a strong dissection team.
SHYPS partners with the NPIC to implement digital pathology soon and supports flexible working arrangements, including working from home.

Person specification
Registration
* Hold a medical degree
* Full GMC registration and license to practice
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date within 6 months) or CESR
* Postgraduate thesis
Experience
* Clinical competence in cellular pathology
* Clinical competence in gynaecology histopathology
* Experience supervising SpRs
* Competence in cervical screening

Additional information
All new employees may be charged for DBS checks (£27.38 standard, £55.38 enhanced), deducted from salary or payable in installments. Volunteers and bank staff are exempt.
