Waterman Building Structures’ busy Bristol office is looking to recruit a Structural Engineer to join our growing and collaborative team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer with around 1–2 years’ experience to develop their career within a supportive consultancy environment. Working alongside experienced engineers and senior leadership, you will gain exposure to a wide range of projects across multiple sectors while continuing to build your technical and client‑facing skills.
Role
As a Structural Engineer, you will support the design, inspection, and assessment of a variety of structural materials and forms across a broad range of projects. You will work closely with senior engineers and contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the structural design, inspection, and assessment of projects across a variety of sectors
* Work on projects within Retail, Industrial, Residential, Telecommunications, Technology, and Leisure sectors
* Support the delivery of projects to agreed quality, budget, and programme targets
* Prepare design calculations, technical reports, and drawings with support from senior engineers
* Liaise with internal teams, consultants, and clients as part of project coordination
* Develop knowledge of relevant design standards, regulations, and best practice
* Work collaboratively within the Structures team to develop innovative engineering solutions
* Support site visits, inspections, and surveys where required
About You
* Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Around 1–2 years’ experience within a structural engineering consultancy environment
* Understanding of structural design principles across a range of materials
* Experience using structural design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, or MasterSeries would be beneficial
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn and develop technically
* A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within a team
* Desire to work towards Chartership (ICE or IStructE)
