About the role
Cheeky Chums is a private day care nursery. Looking for a friendly chef to prepare and
serve snacks, hot lunches and afternoon tea for children aged 0 – 5 years old.
Experience of understanding children's dietary requirements is a vital
requirement. The right candidate must be able to follow the environmental
Health and safety food guidelines and willing to undertake any necessary
training. The post is a permanent post working all year round with holiday
entitlement.
Accountable to:
Nursery Manager/Deputy Manager
* Tasks and Accountabilities
* To be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen
* To prepare and present a freshly cooked lunchtime meal including a dessert for the nursery staff to serve to children in our care.
* The chef must also provide suitable alternatives to accommodate for children with allergies, particular dietary requests and those who observe religious beliefs.
* To adhere and comply with the 'Safer food better business' standards. Ensure all record keeping is up to date.
* To prepare and store a light tea for the nursery staff to serve in the afternoon to the children, again following specific requests made by parents.
* To work with the Nursery Manager to plan a well-balanced, healthy and fresh menu.
* To complete food orders within the appropriate timescales for deliveries.
* Reporting equipment, maintenance problems to the Line Manager.
* To adhere strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
* To adhere strictly to the following safety rules;
* Not to allow children into the kitchen.
* On a daily basis the chef should;
* Ensure that all kitchen bins have liners at all times.
* Ensure that all bin liners are tied securely before depositing contents in the outside bins.
* Ensure that the kitchen is spotlessly clean at all times.
* Ensure that the window sills are kept clear and window protectors are closed at all times to reduce flies etc.
* Ensure that all shelves are neat and tidy.
On a weekly basis the chef should;On an on-going basis the chef should;
* Wipe down and polish all kitchen machines (e.g. kettles, Dishwasher etc.)
* Ensure that containers and cupboards are clearly labelled.
* Wash out and thoroughly clean all fridges, freezers and cookers.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.50-£13.00 per hour
