The role
Location: Wolverhampton Contract: Part-time / Full-time Start Date: September 2026 Monarch Education are currently supporting a welcoming and well-resourced alternative provision in Wolverhampton to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a part-time or full-time basis from September 2026. This role involves working with secondary-aged pupils, many of whom have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and may present with challenging behaviour, within a structured and supportive environment. The provision is committed to helping students re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes, both academically and personally. You will play a key role in supporting pupils using a trauma-informed and restorative approach. Main Responsibilities Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to secondary-aged pupils Support students with SEMH needs, promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation Assist with classroom learning across a range of subjects Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and progress Implement effective behaviour management and de-escalation strategies Support students with communication, social skills, and routines Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN professionals About You Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, behaviour challenges, or additional needs Confident supporting students who may display challenging behaviour Experience in PRUs, alternative provisions, youth work, or behaviour support roles is highly desirable A calm, patient, and resilient approach Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills Confident working with secondary-aged students Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Passionate about supporting students who may be disengaged from education Available for a part-time or full-time long-term role Benefits of Working with Monarch Education Leading provider - Crown Commercial Service Approved Opportunities to enhance your CPD through our Affinity Academy Free Safeguarding training Refer a friend scheme - £200 bonus (unlimited referrals) Online portal to manage your pay and timesheets Competitive daily rates depending on experience Important Information All pay rates provided are inclusive of rolled-up holiday pay.
