About the Directorate The Assurance and Public Protection directorate ensures democratic accountability of council services. The directorate work together to monitor and ensure compliance and provide assurance of Barnet being an engaged and effective council that protects the public purse. They provide enforcement services that engage and protect residents and businesses to support a safer and healthier borough. The following exciting permanent job opportunities have arisen at Barnet Council, where you will be empowered to make a real difference. - Head of Environmental Health, Consumer and Public Protection - Counter Fraud and Trading Standards Manager - Service Manager - Environmental Health (Commercial) - Team Leader - Health and Safety - Environmental Health Officer - Senior Food Safety Officers x2 - Public Health & Noise Nuisance Officers x2 - Technical Scientific Officer - Technical Trading Standards Officer These are place-based roles, which require officers to primarily work from Barnet Council offices in Colindale or other locations across the borough. Public Health & Noise Nuisance Officer Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives? Join us in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of every resident, worker, and visitor in our Borough. As an Environmental Health Officer, you'll play a vital role in: ✅ Responding to and investigating service requests, primarily around noise and nuisance, while tackling other environmental concerns. ✅ Using your expertise to advise, assist, and enforce legal standards under key legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Control of Pollution Act 1974. ✅ Conducting site visits, gathering evidence, and preparing legal notices to uphold community safety. ✅ Participating in our out-of-hours service on a rota basis (with additional pay).
