We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Bridges Engineer to join our client in York on a full-time, permanent basis. Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- An engineering degree and be chartered (ICE/IStructE) or sitting review within the next 12 months.
- A minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience in a design environment.
- Proven experience in the refurbishment and renewals of a range of structural types and materials.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- A driving licence.
Ideal Candidate Should Also Have Experience in:
- Designing various structures, including bridges, tunnels, stations, and buildings, utilizing diverse materials such as concrete, steel, timber, and masonry.
- Project management, including project scoping, coordinating design activities, and managing contractual and financial aspects.
- Managing teams of up to 2-4 people.
- Working on multiple concurrent and multi-discipline commissions.
- Representing the company to clients and collaborating effectively with a range of project stakeholders.
- An innovative outlook, with a desire to use and further develop technical and business skills to align with the growing needs of the business.
- Work winning in a client-facing role.
Reporting to the York Office Lead and working closely with discipline heads across offices, your responsibilities will be varied and impactful:
- Developing conceptual and detailed designs in accordance with project requirements.
- Checking design calculations and drawings completed by other engineers.
- Performing structural calculations and analysis using appropriate software packages.
- Taking on a technical leadership, input, and review role for design, assessment, and other technical aspects.
- Assisting in the preparation of fee proposals.
- Managing and building strong relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Attending meetings, representing MHB and the design team.
- Conducting on-site visits, structural inspections, and investigations.
- Providing technical support and mentorship to less experienced staff.
- Project managing small and medium-sized projects.
