Main duties of the job
* Communicate with patients within the department and on the telephone
* Provide patients with information regarding their scans and preparations needed prior to appointments
* Liaise with other staff within the department
* Show empathy and tact when dealing with the public
* Attend Mandatory Training sessions as required
* Follow policies and procedures within the Radiology Department and the Trust
* Suggest improvements to save time or money in the department
* Ensure accuracy and confidentiality at all times
* Input and retrieve patient details using the Trust-wide PAS system and RIS
* Manage departmental waiting lists to ensure accurate data for requestors
* Participate in future upgrades of the radiology information system
* Support service improvements within the radiology department
* Monitor and suggest improvements for the booking system
* Comment on policies and procedures

Job responsibilities
* Provide appointment booking services within Radiology
* Cover for other Appointment Clerks as needed
* Schedule radiological examinations efficiently to optimize capacity
* Maintain a short notice patient list with contact details
* Contact patients if scheduling less than 7 days before appointments
* Use Soliton and Lorenzo systems for booking

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience in booking radiological examinations and patient preparations
* Experience with booking systems
Qualifications
* GCSE or equivalent (A-C) standard
* NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Service, or relevant experience
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to schedule examinations considering staff rotas
* Strong communication skills for complex negotiations and reassurance
* In-depth knowledge of administrative tasks
